Privacy policy

This policy explains what data Cortex, a BrainTech product, collects, what we use it for, and what control you have over it. It is written so you can understand it without needing a lawyer.
What data we collect
We collect three types of information:
- Contact details: your name, email address, and company when you request access to the beta program or create your account.
- Operational data from your workspace: the tasks, notes, calendar, and brain memory you record inside Cortex while you use it.
- Usage data during the beta: usage metrics, technical errors, and the feedback you share with us, always with your consent.
What we use it for
- To operate the service: making sure Cortex works, sends you your briefing, and executes what you ask it to, with your approval.
- To provide support when you reach out with a question or an issue.
- To improve Cortex by understanding what works well and what does not during the beta.
What we do not do
- We never sell your data to third parties, under any circumstances.
- We do not use your data to train third party AI models.
- The agent never executes actions outside your workspace without your explicit approval.
Where your data lives
Your information is stored on BrainTech's own infrastructure and with trusted providers such as Supabase, which we use for storage and database. The AI used by your agent runs on your own OpenRouter key: that usage and that data are governed by OpenRouter's terms and privacy policy, not by Cortex.
Your rights
At any time you can ask us to access your data, correct it, export it, or delete it. Your brain is yours: if you decide to leave Cortex, you can take it with you.
Data retention
We keep your information while your account is active. If you cancel your account and request deletion of your data, we remove it within a reasonable timeframe, except for what we must keep for legal or accounting obligations.
